Oral history interview with Patti Harrison, 1981 May 19.

Interview with Patti Harrison concerning her experiences as founder of Spectra Biologicals of New Brunswick, N. J. and Nuclear Medical Labs of Dallas, Texas. Harrison discusses her family background, her employment at Wadley Blood Center in Dallas and Herman Hospital in Houston, and founding of Spectra Biologicals in 1961. She also talks about innovations in blood typing serum products, her involvement as a salesperson for Texas and Louisiana territory, and the sale of the company to Becton-Dickenson in 1966. Harrison comments on corporate takeover and management, the founding of Nuclear Medical Labs in 1969, the factors in the successful development of a company, the sale of the company to Warner Lambert in 1976, establishing an improvisational theater in Houston and a fast food restaurant in Wimberly, her ownership of a truss building business in Houston in 1979, corporate management, and women in business.
